As posted in the News and Politics Forum: The Hypocrisy of the Left
- The LEFT lets millions of illegal immigrants cross the southern border, but then liberal mayors lose their minds when the illegals move into their cities (New York, Chicago, etc.).
- The LEFT shoplift and break windows and then complain when those stores close because of their shoplifting and violence.
- The LEFT politicians oppose our right to bear arms and support the defunding of police, but they all have armed guards protecting them.
- The LEFT politicians told us all to mask up and social distance for COVID, and then were photographed out having a good (mask-less) time with their colleagues.
- The LEFT politicians want companies to pay higher minimum wage, but they themselves coerce interns to work for them for FREE.
What are some other ways the LEFT/LIBERALS display hypocrisy?

I'm a left-leaning, but there are some good issues raised here.
If we are too lenient on immigration, issues do arise when a city suddenly has more people than is sustainable. If we are too stringent though, jobs are lost in a lot of sectors like agriculture where, whether we like it or not, are very much sustained by illegal immigrants and literally no one else wants them. I witnessed the issue come to a head myself when a city in my home state had the feds bring down the hammer on a chicken plant. There were so many illegal immigrants employed, that the whole plant shut down permanently and tanked the local economy. ( I don't know the right solution, just saying its a hairy situation ).
The riots were definitely a mess. I've spoken with some of the sympathizers. They had lost all hope in the city curing itself of corruption so went scorched earth and then some were just there to take advantage of the situation. But I think you are right in that no one should look at that issue and be like "Yup, it was 100% the right thing to do to literally burn down the city and tank the economy for the next generation(s)." ( I got some looks when I criticized the situation myself. )
As far as gun control, only the most radical of the left / dems are fully against citizens from owing weaponry ; its the most fundamental right that makes us American, representing our initial war against British rule and our stance against future threats of tyranny. However, there have been waves of school shootings with no end in sight, and it is not so unreasonable for there to be some cautionary barriers in place so not just any unstable 18 year old can obtain one as easily as a snack from a vending machine.
Masks...our politicians being careless isn't contradicting evidence against the science. But fair point, it is quite the hypocritical photo op.
The minimum wage does have some funny side effects, yeah. By enforcing a minimum wage, interns can only be paid if it meets that pay requirement. So point taken.

You bring up a good point about the immigration issue - Americans refuse certain jobs for minimal pay, but illegal immigrants (because of their illegal status) have to work those jobs for the pay they're offered. It's modern-day slavery, and the left should be ashamed of letting it happen.
Instead of cracking down on gun laws, making it harder for ordinary citizens to secure protection, I think they should open decent mental health residency facilities to permanently house people like Adam L. (at Sandyhook) whose mom knew he was a threat to society.

Sure, no problem!
I do not envy the president that finally cracks down on enforcing proper working conditions and pay in all those places. We take the prices of those daily necessities made with such labor for granted, and voters won't respond kindly when they see their new grocery receipts.
Mental health is something we can both focus on for sure. Somehow it seems like a lot of these shooters get lured into some angry, dark places on the web that lead them to dehumanize others. Many seem to feel as though they are victims somehow and are taking revenge on "society" when it's really just innocent lives. In a small way, they are indeed victims - to parental negligence and dangerous influences without a good role model to keep them on a good path.
