So this has been bothering me for some time bc i do listen to punk, rock, ghot, metall and those tipes of music for a very long time.
But my friend says that you need not only to listen to that tipe of music but to also dress in that aesthetic and could be "accepted" as the person that listen to that genre.
And my other friend says that it is not about the aesthetic and clothes, but only music.
I do like how those people dress but i don't really have money to buy merch from bends that i love to listen.
So can someone please tell me what is right. Friend one or friend two? Or are they both right?

100% nope! any alternative subculture, whether it's punk, goth, or just straight-up alternative has NOTHING to do with fashion. it's all about what you believe and what music you listen to!
besides, wouldn't it be ironic if subcultures that were about being outside of the box/not fitting in/going against the grain had rules for how to dress? your friend is 100% wrong! express yourself how you like! it's more "punk" if you do that, anyway :)
