Trying to write a Mission Impossible fic. its going

ofc this is a WIP so its not finished. I just really want to get back into the Mission Impossible fandom on ao3, I've only written 3 works for the fandom (sigh)

Ethan always drives. It’s a rule that isn’t said. Perhaps, Benji wonders, it’s because Ethan is the most experienced on the team. Does being the leader allow you to call dibs to get behind the wheel? Luther is a close second, but Luther never drives, ever. Benji doesn’t think Luther even has a driver’s license. Luther, like Benji, is usually in the back of the van on his laptop. This shared comradery is what helps the two bond. Benji does drive, sometimes, but never cars. He’s in charge of the boats. Ilsa, by being not-officially-on-the-team, doesn’t drive either. Brandt is always the first to step up when a second car is needed, but the fact remains that when Ethan isn’t being shoved into the back of a the van during a high-speed chase, then Ethan is the one behind the wheel.

Does it agitate Benji? Sometimes. He’d like an excuse to put Ethan in the backseat and sit next to him, letting himself sag sideways as the sun drifts lower across the sky. Maybe his head would sink onto Ethan’s shoulders, and Ethan, being the man that he is, so dedicated to his team, wouldn’t say a word as Benji’s eyes close…

But this is only a daydream. Ethan always drives.

Until one time, he doesn’t.

They’re on their way home from Kashmir, India. They stayed there far longer than the team planned to, but it allowed Ethan to recover and for Benji to be fussed over.

Benji: Hey Ethan, sit next to me for the car ride!

Ethan: Sure, but why?

Benji: I don’t want to sit next to Brandt

Also Benji, knowing full well that Ethan lays his head on and naps on whoever he’s sitting next to: :)))
