Maybe music hot takes

Just because a band pioneered a genre doesn't mean they make good music and I shouldn't be expected to like a band because of it. Plenty of genre-defining bands are amazing and did a hell of a good job with what they do, some examples are Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Nirvana, The Dead Kennedys, and Alice Cooper. All of those artists have had music that holds up and continues to be good compared to other bands out now however some people cling to the nostalgia of bands from when they were young and convinced themselves those bands are good.
