What's the point of gender norms?

Honestly though like who just kinda was like 'Oh nah, you got a hotdog bun between your legs. We are NOT the same, I got a sausage' and everybody was kinda just like 'oh well, thems the rules' ┐( ∵ )┌ and we went on with our day like even now we have gender norms and I just don't get it. I don't know if I'm wording any of this right or anything but it's still a genuine question I been thinking about that I don't feel people cover enough like dudes wear pants and shirts and girls wear dresses woopty doopty doo now explain to me why that is I'm tired of not getting a straight answer ರ╭╮ರ
