absolute state of polish sejm

it's really fun following polish politics right now. you see, as a kid i really imagined all political debates to be this serious, constructive thing. of course, i was very wrong. i'm deligted to see the sejm's meeting being livestreamed on youtube, not just snippets being shown on tv. i swear, it's like reality tv. this feeling supports the fact, that the head of sejm right now is a man, who just a few years ago was a host of a show of poland's got talent :D

such a livestream really supports new government's campaign over television. it was no secret that tv was filled with supporters of the previous ruling party, skewing information and spreading propaganda. on a livestream online, everything is out in the open - no chance to 'reframe' news and what each party stands for. just a second ago, as i am writing this, my dad and i caught the previous gov's politician in a lie - about as to why poland did not receive funding for a certain project (he claimed it was opposition's fault, meanwhile the truth was the EU did not allow it because of gov's law violations).

livestreaming of the discussions opens younger people (who quite often don't watch tv) and people living overseas to get information about discussions happening without any filter. this way it's much easier to cross-reference politician's claims with evidence. also to see, which party desperately tries to stop the discussions by any means necessary... (it happened 4 times in 30 min just from the previously ruling party...).

as much as it is fun and games to see politicians being funnily harsh at each other, with their swift comebacks, it's important to remember that previously ruling party was actively pursuing and trying to eliminate other parties from the political scene. i guess everyone is frustrated after the last few years. we are witnessing big, if not historical changes right now.
