You guys have not forgotten about Palestine, have you?

It has officially been more than 2 months since the Israeli military launched their first attack on the Gaza strip on October 7th. Since then, tens of thousands of people, many of whom were women and children, have been mercilessly slaughtered. Millions more have been displaced. What we have been witnessing, as I have talked about on this blog before, is a genocide. Despite this being true, however, governments and media outlets in countries that support Israel (specifically Western governments and media outlets) have been telling lies to the masses to persuade them that this is not a genocide, but a "war" or "self defense". Israeli propaganda, which is ridiculously easy to debunk, has been featured on almost all major news networks. Even so-called "liberal" news networks, like CNN, have been spreading this propaganda. Politicians, eager to fund this genocide, proudly repeat what the Israeli government tells them to say while, at the same time, sending money and aid to Israel. It is clear, now more than ever, that these governments do not care about people. They never have, and they never will. They care about money and power, and they will do anything to gain these things- even if what they are doing is inhumane.

So much has happened since Israel first attacked Gaza on October 7th. Hospitals have been bombed, people have been bulldozed over, Gazans have been shot at while evacuating South on "safe routes", illnesses have been spread, the Israeli military has attempted to push Gazans into the Sinai Desert, people in the West Bank have been arrested en masse, Israeli hostages have been shot by the Israeli military, and Gazans, starving and thirsty, have been left to wither away.

The environment of Palestine has suffered and is going to continue to suffer a lot due to this new massacre. If Israel's goal is to murder all Palestinians and take their land, which it seems like it is, then they are going to have a hard time living in their land if they take it. Their own weapons are causing damage and are going to continue to cause damage to Gaza. Their explosives are leaving particles in the air and uprooting olive trees that have been in Palestine for centuries. Their white phosphorus (a gas whose use is against humanitarian law because of the fact that it burns at temperatures high enough to burn through metal and bone) has set fire to various places. Their bombs have destroyed Gaza's wastewater plants, meaning that sewage is now contaminating the Mediterranean Sea and making its water undrinkable.

It is because of all this tragedy that we need to continue fighting for Palestine. We cannot remain silent while Palestinians and their environment are suffering. The world has its eyes on Palestine, and it is fed up with the way Israel has been treating the country. We need to continue boycotting businesses that support Israel, raising our voices for Palestine, sending aid to Palestine, listening to Palestinian people (especially those who are actively resisting Israel's occupation of their land, fighting for the liberation and decolonization of Palestine, and documenting what is currently going on by filming/taking pictures of what is happening) and taking to the streets (if you are someone who feels comfortable doing that). Every voice and action matters. I believe that, if we join together as one and advocate for the decolonization of Palestine, Palestine will be free within all of our lifetimes.
